Vedanta Shala-Center For Traditional Vedanta
Documenting the Teaching Tradition of Advaita Vedanta
The discourse of Advaita is fabricated with diachronic braids of interrelating narratives, but the syntagmatic axis of this network of power is regulated by fraternities of pious exegetes who pledge allegiance to an ancient Vedic deity. Dedicated to transmitting knowledge of brahman (brahmavidya), the ultimate reality revealed in the Vedas, these so-called ascetics are authorized through their self-confessed, even vowed, location within an uninterrupted teacher-student succession (guru-sisya-parampara) which derives its knowledge from Shiva, a God who makes his appearance in an archaic recension of these divine revelations, as narrated by the Rg herself, wherein he is surrounded by a tribe of Aryan rsis. Regardless of whether or not this mythic prototype initiates or reflects an extra-literary crisis, or community cult, it is certain that the teaching lineage of Aryan nomads has been twice hijacked by semitic imperialists. Vedanta Shala, dedicated to the Advaita sampradaya, penetrates all-India regimes of brahminization and reroutes transnational flights of perverse hybridization.
